There's no place like Gnome..

Had to start with the pun.... as I purchased Papercraft Essentials #150 yesterday with some Gnome stamps and matching dies..... And of course had to play straight away!

I CASE'd a card from the magazine ....

After I Facebook shared, one of my colleagues asked to purchase it.... so I had to make myself another one tonight....just changed up the colours a bit...and did  another card "from our gnome to yours"

For the second one I did some masking but I could have die cut the gnome as the free set has the matching die.  I can see a few more examples being made with this set.... it is adorable ..... and yes it does have the sentiment...."there's no place like gnome "

Trick or Treat

Hi.  It's my day to share over at Die Cut Divas.  This month we have a gorgeous Mood Board.

I used a Bugaboo image and then used a Spellbinders rectangle die to partial cut it.  The background paper is from an old My Grafico digi paper pack.   I used a Catherine Pooler Designs scallop die to make my layer.  The sentiment is computer generated using a font called Dutch and Harley.

Thanks for stopping by.

Two for one on the edge stamping

I recently saw Jennifer McGuire doing an on the edge stamping trick and getting two cards for one lot of stamping.  (you can see it HERE)    I decided to try it out today using a Concord & 9th stamp.  It was really easy to do with the assistance of MISTI.  I decided to colour it in two different colour scheme.

For the first one, I used bright Copic colours.  The sentiment is from the same Concord & 9th stamp set as the flowers.   I added some Liquid Pearls to the splatters.

On my second card I used more muted colours - choosing my lightest Copics.  I added a few more splatters with a Gold Wink of Stella.   The die cut and sentiment are from a Catherine Pooler set.

I enjoyed doing the same design in different colour schemes.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Struggling to make masculine cards.....

Unlike my friend Monika I struggle to make masculine cards.  She is very good at it.... but I struggle a bit, so when I got asked to make a 21st card for a male.... I really pondered on what to do.  So off to visit Pinterest for some ideas.   I took inspiration from a couple of cards to come up with my final idea (can I tell you that there are three aborted cards and scraps on my desk!)

For this card I started with some washi tape stripes in black and mustard colour, including a sparkly black one - I know it's a masculine card but hey - who doesn't like a little sparkle!  The die cut circle is a dark dark grey cut with a Simon Says Stamp stitched circle die.  I die cut the numbers (Couture Creations die) from some yellow card stock and stamped the "st" onto a scrap of the yellow and hand cut it.  The birthday sentiment was from a freebie set sitting on my desk.  And finally some Liquid Pearls in Onyx Black to finish.  I am entering this into the "Anything Goes" at Simon Says Stamp.

I was away for the long Labour Day weekend and didn't get any crafting done, so have been itching to get back into it.  A few Design team cards have been made.... 3 in fact - so look out for some reveals and sneak peeks coming over the next few weeks.   Trying to get myself ahead now!

Thanks for stopping by.  Please leave me a comment so I know you've been.

My favourite flowers - Roses

Just a quick post so I can enter my second card in The Flower Challenge #13

I quickly CASE'd a card I had seen Lydia Evans do on the Altenew live Facebook yesterday.  I love the design so changed up the colours slightly and came up with this

My fussy cutting wasn't the best as I really was in a hurry to do this.   I'm waiting to be picked up to head to the beach for the long weekend and realised that our friend's daughter who birthday is today, will be coming up tomorrow.  So this is for her.

If I win I would choose PRIZE 7 from CASual Fridays

My Mum's funeral was beautiful and although sad, it was lovely to catch up with the nieces and their families.  Plus my little Archer was there - so happy to see him and his Mum.  He's 18 months now and here is a cute picture of him and his uncle.  (my son)

Have a great weekend

The Flower challenge.... Use your favourite flower.

I found a new to me challenge called "The Flower Challenge"  It looks super fun as I really love my Floral images.
This month's challenge is to use your favourite flower..... I love Roses and I just received my new Altenew Build a Rose.  And my NZ swap group this week was using a sketch....

Mojo251Sketch.png

I used some PP from an Embellish paper pack to make my panels.  I stamped my rose and leaves in Altenew inks.  I then die cut them out and added to the panels.  The Hello die is from Catherine Pooler Designs.
PS - if I win I'd love Prize 4

I'm off very early in the morning to head over to Australia for Mum's funeral on Friday morning.   It's been an effort getting all the airfares organised, rental accommodation, rental cars etc and of course I mucked up one of the airfares with a spelling mistake - which has caused me a $ 50 fee to fix it!  And still waiting for confirmation - hope it comes through before Hubby flies on Thurs morning...  Had to be his I messed up!

thanks for stopping by

World Card Making Day

I have been spending some time today in my craft room.... taking my mind off things....
It's WCMD (or weekend in my case!)

I've been doing some of the challenges over at StampNation...based around a travel journal

Challenge 1 - Canada - make a scene card.... I showed this one yesterday....

Challenge 2 - Alaska  - create a card using Embossing Paste, Texture paste or something similar.

I used a Kaisercraft stamp and then added some paste through a stencil and then freehand at the base of the lamp.   I then used some distress inks to sponge the night sky.   The sentiment is from a freebie set I got last year with a magazine.

Challenge #3 - Australia... a gorgeous mood board - sea creatures or mermaids, or just be inspired by the colors in the graphic!

I used this cute little mermaid from The Greeting Farm.  It's a digi stamp so I printed it out and coloured with Copics.  My background was made with Distress Oxides in green and blue.  I added water splatters and some sparkle pen.  The black circle doily is a Catherine Pooler Design's die.

Challenge 4 - Ancient Rome - use something old (from your stash, a vintage style stamp set or design style, age your creation by distressing the edges or make a birthday card for someone getting older)
I still working on this one

Challenge 5 - Spain. The traditional Flamenco dress is inspiring in itself. Use the photos to inspire your design  - I was one of the designers for this challenge.... here's a peek of my card

The colours and flounces of the flamingo dresses inspired my card.

It's off to work tomorrow - till I find out when Mum's funeral is and we can book our flights.  I'll stay a few days after to help Dad sort through Mum's stuff.  Both my children are coming.  Our son and his partner with us, and our daughter and grandson will fly over from Perth.

A very Sad Day.....

I am very sad today... My darling Mum passed this morning.....  Lots of tears and sadness.  And not being in the same country to support my Dad is making it even worse.   I am so glad I was able to visit last month.  It really hasn't  hit me yet.   Until we know more details, we can't make plans for our flight over to Australia.   RIP Mum.  LOVE YOU

To take my mind of things, I made card this afternoon for StampNation's WCMD challenge #1 - Make a scene.

I used a Dark Room Door scene stamp - used some Altenew inks to stamp and sponge onto the scene.  The sentiment is from a Catherine Pooler stamp set.  This is for my hubby's birthday on the 16th.

My posts might be a bit spasmodic for the next little while.

Autumn Leaves for Hero Arts Scramble #160

Betty hosted the the Hero Arts Flickr group scramble over the weekend.  Her challenge was to use Metallic with an Autumn theme.

I used a set of leaves that Hero Arts released in 2011.

I stamped the leaves in various Metallic Delicata inks and then smooshed the inks onto an acrylic block and painted the leaves.   I used a Green Spectrum Aqua pen as a watercolour wash for the background.  The base and sentiment are actually dark grey (looks black in my photo)

Thanks to Betty for such a fun challenge.

Halloween card - at Die Cut Divas

It's time for a new challenge at Die Cut Divas - we have a mood board with an Autumn theme

And our sponsor is Bugaboo

For my card I've used a Zombie image for my Halloween card

I printed out the image onto some Canson XL watercolour paper and used Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers to colour them. I used a Spellbinders rectangle die to cut it out.    The black card has been embossed with a brick wall folder.  I then cut the Xpress It letters out to spell out my BOO.

Do come and join us with your projects
