With Sympathy

I'm back to share another card over at Die Cut Divas,  using products from our sponsor, Kaisercraft.   I have used a Feather Embossing folder from the latest release
Embossing Folder 4x6 Feather
This folder is simplicity itself... Just this large feather in the centre of the folder

After embossing the flower up towards the top of my card.  The bottom panel is a made using Geo Builders by Catherine Pooler for the StampNation SOA Collection.   The sentiment is from a Hero Arts set.  Love the simplicity of this card.

thanks for stopping by.

Double embossing with Altenew flowers

The All Occasions Embossing folder that came free with a magazine late last year, has made another appearance  down under... It's even got it's own Facebook page!  It still has to come out here in NZ, but all the cards I've been seeing inspired me to pull the folder out and have a play.   I decided to use the folder with my Inside Out Embossing Plate and the folder that goes with it.

I used the IOE plate to leave the centre of the folder un- embossed and then used them again with the IOE folder to just emboss the oval.   I trimmed and added to some white then black mats before adding to the card base.  I used a sentiment from Altenew's Beautiful Day.  The big flower is from the Peony Scrolls and the leaves are from the Beautiful Day.  I used a mixture of Copic markers and some cheap colouring pencils.  I fussy cut them out. Once they were on the card, I added lots of sparkle with a Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen.  Finished by adding some little gems.  Adding this to the current challenge at Simon Says Stamp - Add some shimmer.

This card is on it's way to my sister in law, over in Australia.  Last week she had a Kidney transplant and this is to wish her all the best after the operation.  She has to spend 4-6 weeks living near the hospital as she has to be checked out twice daily to ensure there is no rejection.  Hoping all goes well for her.

Thanks for stopping by.  If you want to leave me a comment, I would really like it.

Altenew Homework

Over at Altenew Academy, Marika Rahtu, has a fabulous class called "Beautiful Details".  Marika does the MOST AMAZING stamping and colouring.  She really is an artist..   Me not so much.  You really have to be patient to do her techniques.   I'm not patient!!!!

Day 1 Marika used some solid stamps to make her own flowers
Here is her card:
Marika used a solid stamp from Painted Roses set which I don't have.  I do have Golden Garden which has some sketchy flowers.  I used one of the flowers and stamped it in Altenew blue ink doing first, second and even third generation stamping.  I used a pen to make sketchy lines

I smudged the stickles dots and creased it a little bit when I added the 3D tape.  I used black washi tape along the bottom.    The sentiment is from Kaisercraft.

I am not feeling confident that I can do the beautiful shading Marika does but if I get some time over the weekend, I am going to give it a try.

I'm going to finish off tonight with a photo of my little grandson.  He's 9 weeks old now and growing quickly.  With the internet, I am happy to say I get a photo or little video just about every day.

Today was the first time he held onto his toy and of course the first place it went was into his mouth!

Thanks for stopping by.

Hero Arts Hello with Orchids

"Hello".... a great sentiment.   You can add lots of other sentiments with it.  Just like I did here for my sample at a2z scrapbooking today

IMG_1762W

I used two beautiful sets from Hero Arts....

The orchid stamp set (CL942) has a matching die set as well (DI177) but I don't have it.   I added a die cut Hello from CL151 with the sentiment from the set.    Using a MISTI tool really makes the layering stamps easy to do.

Photo Page

It's my day at Die Cut Diva's and I'm trying something a bit different for me - I've made a Photo page

Our Sponsor this month is Kaisercraft and I got to work with a fabulous stamp and Die Set called Smile.

I'm no Scrapbooker, I get intimidated by a 12x12 page, so I've made a 8x8 page that I intend to frame.

I stamped and die cut the camera. the arrow and the word Smile from the set and after trimming and layering the photo, used the other sentiment - "amazing Memories".   This is the photo taken when hubby and I first meet our Grandson, Archer, at the airport when he was 3 weeks old.

Here he is at 7 weeks
Growing like a little Sprout!  (that was his nickname in vitro)   I miss him heaps but it's only a couple more months till he and his Mummy and Daddy come to visit!

Thanks for stopping by.

Summer colouring for Virginia's Challenge

I saw that Virginia has started a Summer Colour challenge over at Virginia's View  and the card I made today fits the bill.

I took a page from my colouring in book, that I had coloured with Faber-Castell pencils and photo-reduced it.  I trimmed it and matted it onto some blue card.   I added a sentiment from Altenew's Label Love.   I really loved the page I had done and was really pleased with how this turned out.  There are several other pages in the book that will work as well.

Hope you are all having a great weekend and getting some crafting done.

Playing with stamps, die cuts and some vellum

Over the last couple of days I have been playing... just for me... not for any design teams and just for a few challenges.

First card is a fun one I did with a new Art Impressions stamp I got at the Perth craft show...

I stamped the turtle stack onto some watercolour card and used my some Tombow and Distress markers to watercolour them.  Art Impressions are awesome as their packaging has the image coloured showing shading which gives a great idea on how to make them look dimensional.   I used the sentiment from the set, and also a sentiment from a little Simon Says Stamp set.   I used some retro PP for my background and layered it with some brown card and added to a cream card base.

My second card is for the Vellum challenge at A Blog Named Hero.

this is a 3.5" x 5.5" card.  It was made as I had the scrap of PP left from another project.  I die cut a vellum circle and embossed the Hero Arts sentiment onto it.  I had the Hero Arts little bunny already cut and coloured, so it came together really quickly.  I die cut some red hearts with the Simon Says Stamp mini hearts die.   This is heading it's way to Archie, to let him know Nana and Pop miss him.

If you are in need of any Hero Arts products you can head over to A2Z Scrapbooking Esty store and

Thanks for stopping by today.

Rainbow Birthday

While I had my Geo Builders stamp set out over the long weekend, I made another Rainbow card.  I have a very ancient Colorbox rainbow ink pad.  I was surprised to find it was still very juicy.

I stamped the Geo Builders stamp once, then turned it around and stamped again... this gives the circle looking image.  I masked off the little stripe, and used the ink pad to colour.  I also used ink direct to card to colour up some cardstock to die cut the You.  The sentiment is from the SOA Beautiful world collection, the You stamp set.  Added the little hearts that were part of the die set as well as some other little hearts and stars.

We had an awesome long weekend - very relaxing and then on Monday we travelled 1.5hrs south to watch our nephew Jason, play in the Waikato rugby team against Thames Valley.  It was a Ranfurly Shield game.  It was his debut for his regional team and he did well.  Even scored a try!  It was a great day out, catching up with a few of the family who went to watch.

Thanks for stopping by.

Altenew June Inspiration

I just LOVE my Altenew stamps... slowly building up my stash.  The Altenew Blog is awesome as well... lots of inspiration and once a month... they have a little challenge... based on a photo inspiration.  This month's photo is stunning

photo inspiration challenge_June_2

Isn't this just stunning.

Here's my card inspired by the above

I took my inspiration from the flower colour and the lace on the dress.  I used the new Spring Daisies stamp and white embossed onto some kraft paper ( some very heavy packing paper) I used some Faber-Castel pencils and mineral spirits to colour the flower.  Used some Tea Dye distress ink and a Tim Holtz lacy stencil to make the background.  The sentiment is from Altenew Beautiful Day set.   I'm hopeless at the placement of  gems or sequins so just scattered a few on this card.

Had fun making this one.  This stamp set is so versatile.  You can stamp the layers or you can colour like I did here. One of the reasons I so love Altenew stamps.

Entering this into the Monday Simon Says Stamp  challenge Summer Garden

 Stamp&Cut Yes
This is a set called Stamp and Cut yes...

I used four different Ombre inks to stamp the Hello and then die cut it.   The sentiment is from Hello Cut and Die set.

Playing with Foiling

One of my purchases at the Perth Craft Fair was some Deco Foil.  I got two - Silver and Pumpkin.  I saw that it could be used with double sided tape so got to spend some time yesterday having a play.  I also had my Stamp of Approval Collection on my desk.  My inspiration for this card was from Catherine Pooler's KISS card video from last week.

I started by stamping the bottom layer with a stamp from the Geo Builders set.  The circles are from The Enchanted Garden set and were stamped with a Kaliedorcolor Ink called Calypso.    I added a stripe of double sided tape and used the Pumpkin foil.  I also added some to card stock and then die cut the Hello from Winnie & Walter.  The rest of the sentiment is from a Hero Arts stamp set.

It's time to do some Masking....

The latest challenge at Simon Says Stamp is all about Masking.  And I have new stamps and inks to play with.    So I pulled out my new Altenew Daisies stamp set and new Yellow inks,Zig Brush Markers, post it notes, Moltow masking pen, sentiment stamp from Sugar Pea (part of the SOA Beautiful World collection) a distress paint dauber and this is what happened!

I started by stamping onto some Canson water colour paper,  and used the Post it notes to mask the main daisy.  I then used the Moltow liquid to cover all the flowers.  I then used a blue Zig marker to do a wash of colour, added some splatters of yellow.  I then removed the masking liquid progressively and used the Inks to add the other layer to the daisies and leaves.   Added Spectrum Noir clear sparkle to the centres and splatters of the watered down Distress paint in Wild Honey.  Finished with the sentiment from the Beautiful World SOA collection.

Entered into the Mask it challenge at Simon Says Stamp

May CCC reveal

I enjoy my monthly CCC card swap that Deborah Nolan organises.   It's a big WIN WIN... you get to make a card and then you get to receive one back into the mail....

Deborah gives us some choices in the challenge... a colour theme or a sketch or a theme.

See the reveal to see these and what each of us send the other.

I used the sketch (sort of) for my card that was sent to Jerrie in Wisconson

I used stamps from Tim Holtz, a stencil, Distress inks and Zig Brush Markers.

I've signed up for the June Challenge as well... go take a look

Wednesday 1 June 2016

It's the First - so two new challenges.

First up is Die Cut Divas - a new challenge and a new sponsor.... Kaisercraft!  Yes we have managed to secure them and what a prize package it is too...

The design team were luck enough to be provided with some of the June release to work with... Some fabulous patterned paper, a die and stamp set and an embossing folder.

My card for today used some of the PP from the Boho Dreams  pack (Bohemian) and the Die and Stamp set called Smile

I used a WRMK embossing folder with the PP and the stamp and die.  The PP panel was die cut with a Lil'Inkers die.

My second challenge is Chalk'n'Stock

I used a Bugaboo image and coloured with Copic markers.  I used chalk to colour the background.  My dies and sentiment are both from the latest StampNation SOA collection.

So be sure to visit both blogs and would love to see your projects
